The short version

Dion Software, LLC does not collect, receive, store, sell, or share your FaveNest data. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code. Everything you save lives on your device and, if you choose, in your own private iCloud database. The only thing the app ever sends to us is a message you write in Contact Us, and only when you send it.

The one way a save can reach a third party is a choice you make yourself: FaveNest Pro lets you add your own OpenAI, Anthropic or OpenAI-compatible API key, and with one set, the text of a save goes straight from your device to that provider so its model can write the title, summary and tags. When you ask your library a question, the question and short excerpts of the saves that best match it go to that provider the same way, so it can answer. Nothing passes through us. We never see the key or the request, and the key itself lives in your iCloud Keychain.

This public website uses Visitors and Vercel Web Analytics to measure website traffic and performance. Neither analytics service is included in the FaveNest app, and neither ever receives your library, iCloud records, saved content, or activity inside the app.

What FaveNest stores, and where

The items you save (links, notes, images, documents, places, categories, tags, and any reminders you set on them) are written to a database on your device. That copy is the original.

On a signed build with iCloud available, the same records sync through your private CloudKit database, inside the iCloud account already signed in to your device. Apple documents records in a user’s private database as readable and writable only by that user; they are not visible to the developer. We cannot read, browse, export, or recover them.

If you sign out of iCloud or turn iCloud Drive off for FaveNest, the app keeps working locally on that device.

A few things FaveNest works out from your library stay on the device that made them and are never synced, backed up, or sent anywhere: the index Search uses to find saves by meaning and to suggest More Like This, readable copies of saved pages for the reader, the copy of recent saves and favorites your widgets show, your recent searches, and a count of the saves you have made, which decides when to ask for an App Store rating. Each device builds its own.

Apple Intelligence and generated content

FaveNest uses Apple Intelligence to write short titles, factual summaries and tags for what you save, and to answer the questions you ask your library in Search. These models run on the device: to answer a question, Apple Intelligence searches your library on the device and reads what it finds there. Unless you add your own API key, described in the next section, the contents of your library are not sent to an online AI service by FaveNest. FaveNest has no AI provider account of its own and ships no third-party AI library.

Search also finds saves by meaning, using Apple’s on-device language frameworks. They turn the title, summary and tags of each save, or the start of a note, into an index on that device, and nothing about your saves leaves it. The first time a language needs one, the system may download its language model from Apple; that download carries nothing from your library.

On a device that does not support Apple Intelligence, the app falls back to local plain titles and to the page’s own description, with no change to what leaves your device, unless you have added a key.

Using your own API key

FaveNest Pro lets you add your own API key for OpenAI, Anthropic or any service that speaks the OpenAI-compatible API, under Settings > Intelligence > Cloud Model. It is off until you add a key. It exists for devices that cannot run Apple Intelligence, and for anyone who would rather a larger model wrote their summaries. On a device with Apple Intelligence, you choose whether the cloud model is used only as a fallback, where Apple Intelligence cannot answer, or for every save; on a device without it, the cloud model is used whenever a key is set.

When the cloud model is used, the request goes directly from your device to the provider you chose, over HTTPS and authenticated with your key. There is no FaveNest server in between: neither the key nor the request passes through us, and we cannot read either. Like any web request, the provider also sees your IP address, and it uses the key to bill your own account. FaveNest sends it one of these, and nothing else from your library:

Organizing a save. The title, site and text of the save being described (page text, your notes, and text recognized in images and PDFs), together with FaveNest’s instructions to write a title, summary, category and tags. When you get Pro, or add a key on a device without Apple Intelligence, FaveNest offers to organize again the saves it filed by keyword before. If you start that with a key set, each of those saves is sent the same way, one at a time and in a few requests each, from the text FaveNest already holds for it; the offer tells you how many saves that is.
Asking your library a question. FaveNest first searches your library on your device and picks up to twelve saves that best match your question. If nothing matches, nothing is sent. Otherwise the request carries your question, today’s date, and a short description of each of those saves: its title, what kind of save it is, its category, the day you saved it, its site, its place or product details, its tags, the beginning of its summary and of your note, and a short passage of its page or recognized text around a word from your question. It carries no other saves.
Test Connection. A one-line test message that contains nothing from your library.

What the provider does with that content is governed by its own terms and privacy policy, not by ours: Anthropic’s Privacy Policy, OpenAI’s Privacy Policy, or the policy of the compatible service you configured.

The key is stored in your device’s keychain and carried to your other devices by iCloud Keychain, end-to-end encrypted, the way your Safari passwords travel. FaveNest never writes it to its settings, to a library backup, to a diagnostics report or to a log, the share extension has no access to it, and it is sent to no one but the provider it belongs to. Remove Key, on the same screen, deletes it from your keychain and turns the cloud model off.

Network requests the app makes

FaveNest makes network requests only in direct service of something you saved or asked for:

Fetching a saved page in order to generate a preview image, a summary, and offline reading content, and again when you open a page in the reader on a device that has no readable copy of it yet. That request goes to the site you saved, exactly as a browser’s would.
Loading map artwork, Look Around imagery, and geocoding through Apple’s MapKit when a saved item resolves to a place, and, on Apple Watch, searching Apple Maps for named places around you when you open Save Spot.
Synchronizing your records with your own iCloud account through Apple’s CloudKit.
Sending a message you write in Contact Us to our support inbox. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it, and what happens to it is described under Messages you send us.
Sending the text of a save, or a question and the saves that best match it, to OpenAI, Anthropic or an OpenAI-compatible service, only if you have added your own API key for it, as described above.
Letting the system download a language model from Apple the first time an on-device feature needs one, such as search by meaning, or a voice for Listen. These downloads carry nothing from your library.
Translating text you choose in the reader, through Apple’s Translation, as described under Reading, listening and translating.

A website you choose to save receives the same standard request information it would see if you opened it in a browser, and that website’s privacy policy applies. MapKit and CloudKit are operated by Apple and governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy, and a cloud model provider you added a key for is governed by its own policy, linked above. Apart from a message you send us, none of these requests reaches us or tells us anything about you.

Analytics in the FaveNest app

There are none. The FaveNest app, its extensions and its Apple Watch app include no analytics library, no advertising library and no third-party tracking code. The only crash reports we can ever see are the ones Apple provides if you have chosen to share them with developers. The privacy manifests shipped inside the app, its extensions and the watch app declare no tracking and no tracking domains.

Analytics on this website

The marketing website at favenest.app uses two third-party web analytics services: Visitors and Vercel Web Analytics. We use them only to understand how the public website is found, used, and performs. Neither is connected to the FaveNest app or to iCloud.

When you visit the website, Visitors processes the page URL, referring page, browser, operating system, device type, pageviews, session activity, outgoing-link events, clicks on the App Store download buttons, and Core Web Vitals. Like any web request, it initially receives your IP address. Visitors says it uses the address to derive an approximate city, region and country and to create an anonymous signature, then discards the address except for temporary abuse-prevention records.

This website enables Visitors’ persist mode. Visitors therefore sets a first-party visitor cookie containing a unique identifier so it can recognize the same browser across visits. We do not use Visitors’ identify feature, do not send names or email addresses, and do not send custom event properties. Visitors says its script sends no analytics events when Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track is enabled in the browser.

Visitors processes and stores analytics event data in the European Union. Its policy says most analytics data is retained while the project remains active, performance measurements are deleted after one year, and website analytics data is not sold or used for Visitors’ own business purposes. Read the Visitors Data Policy for the full processing, retention, and subprocessor details.

Vercel, which hosts this website, also counts pageviews through Vercel Web Analytics. Its script loads from favenest.app itself and reports each page you open: the time, the page URL and referring page, filtered query parameters, an approximate country, region and city, and your browser, operating system and device type. We send it pageviews only, with no custom events. Like any web request, it receives your IP address; Vercel says pageviews are recorded anonymously and are not tied to an individual or to an IP address.

Vercel says Web Analytics uses no third-party cookies. It recognizes a visitor by a hash created from the incoming request and discards that visitor session after 24 hours. This website does not load Vercel Web Analytics at all when Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track is enabled in the browser. Read Vercel’s Web Analytics privacy documentation for the full details.

Messages you send us

When you write to us from Contact Us in the app, or from a contact form on this website, the message goes to a small endpoint at favenest.app that we operate, and from there to our support inbox. We receive what you typed: the message, the email address you gave for a reply, your name if you added one and, from the app, one line naming the app version, build, operating system version and device model, so that a reply can be specific. The endpoint stores none of it and does not log its contents. Like any web request, it sees your IP address; it uses that only to limit how many messages one address can send in a short time, and does not write it into the message.

Delivery is handled by Resend, a third-party email service, which sends the message to our inbox and keeps a copy in its logs. Resend says that email and log data is retained for 30 days, that stored data is held in the United States, and that transfers from the EU are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Read the Resend Privacy Policy for the details.

We use what you send only to answer you and to fix what you reported. Your address is never added to a list and never shared beyond the services named here. We keep the conversation in our support mailbox for as long as it helps us help you, and delete it when you ask. You can always skip the endpoint and email support@favenest.app directly instead.

Purchases

FaveNest Pro is bought through the App Store using Apple’s StoreKit, which is built into iOS, iPadOS and macOS rather than added to the app as a third-party service. Apple processes the payment. We never see your payment details, and we receive nothing from the transaction that identifies you. What the app itself keeps is a single flag on your device recording that Pro is active, stored alongside the app’s other settings.

Apple gives us the aggregate sales and download reports every developer gets, which cannot be traced back to a person. Buying Pro, or not buying it, changes nothing on its own about what leaves your device: the models run in the same place either way. The only thing that adds a destination is a key you add yourself, described above, and that is a separate choice from paying.

App Store ratings

After you have made a few saves, FaveNest may ask Apple to show its standard rating prompt, and Settings has a Rate FaveNest link to the App Store. Apple decides whether the prompt appears, and a rating or review you leave goes to the App Store under Apple’s terms, not through us. To decide when to ask, the app counts the saves you make on that device; the count stays on the device.

Location

The iPhone, iPad and Mac apps never ask for your location; places come from the Apple or Google Maps links you save, and from the addresses inside them. FaveNest on Apple Watch asks, while you use it, when you first open Save Spot or Near You, to sort your saved places by distance and to list named places around you. Your location is never stored and never sent to us. To list places around you, the watch searches Apple Maps with it, as any map app does. Only a place you choose to save is added to your library.

Apple Watch

Your iPhone sends FaveNest on Apple Watch a copy of your recent saves, favorites and places directly, over Apple’s connection between the two devices, with no iCloud and no server of ours in between. Notes and spots you save on the watch go back to your iPhone the same way.

Siri, Shortcuts and visual intelligence

FaveNest answers Siri, Shortcuts and visual intelligence on your device and sends nothing to us. What you say to Siri, and what visual intelligence sees, is handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. FaveNest receives only the search term, the text, photo or PDF to save, or the labels visual intelligence recognized. While your device is locked, they can’t read your library; saving still works from the Lock Screen.

Reminders and notifications

Every notification FaveNest shows is created on your device; there is no notification server of ours. When you set a reminder on a save, its date is stored with the save and syncs through your private iCloud database like the rest of it, so each of your devices schedules the same reminder for itself, and clearing it on one clears it on all. A reminder shows the save’s title, one line about it, such as its site or the start of its summary or note, and its picture. Like any notification, what appears on your Lock Screen and on a paired Apple Watch follows your notification settings.

Widgets and controls

FaveNest’s widgets read a small copy of your recent saves, favorites and categories that the app keeps in a container on your device: titles, sites, dates and small pictures, never note text, page text or text recognized in images. The copy is never sent to us. While your device is locked, the widgets hide those titles, sites and pictures. FaveNest’s controls in Control Center and on the Action button only open the app.

Reading, listening and translating

The reader shows a readable copy of a saved page that FaveNest keeps on that device, made from the page it fetched. Listen reads it aloud with the voices on your device. Translate hands the passage you are reading to Apple’s Translation; depending on your settings, Apple translates it on your device or on its own servers, under Apple’s Privacy Policy. None of this sends anything to us.

Importing from another app

Import from Another App reads an export file you choose, on your device. FaveNest never signs in to or contacts the other service. The links it brings in are then fetched like any other save, as described above.

The share extension

When you save something through the system Share sheet or menu, the extension writes the item to a shared container on your device that the main app reads. Nothing is transmitted anywhere as part of that hand-off.

Your data is portable

Export Library writes a complete backup of your library: one FaveNest Backup document that holds your items as plain JSON text and your original files as they were, which you can store wherever you like and restore later. The on-device copies described above, such as the search index and the reader’s copies, are not part of it; each device rebuilds them. Deleting the app removes its local data from that device; deleting the records from iCloud removes them from your account.

Children

FaveNest is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. The app collects no library data from children or anyone else. Neither the app nor the website asks for an account, and the only personal information we ever receive is what you choose to include in a message to us. You can remove app data from your device and iCloud yourself at any time.

Your rights

Regulations such as the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) give you rights to access, correct, port, erase, or object to certain uses of personal data held by a company. Dion Software, LLC holds no library data from the FaveNest app, so there is no app data for us to produce or erase. You retain full direct control of your library on your device and in your iCloud account. If you have written to us, we hold that correspondence in our support mailbox and will delete it when you ask. Content sent to an AI provider using your own key goes directly to that provider and is handled under its own policy. Changes to this policy

If the FaveNest app ever adds analytics, an owned backend, a third-party service, or any other change to how app data flows, this page will be updated before that version ships. If the website changes its analytics provider or practices, that will be reflected here too. The date at the top will change whenever this policy changes.
